What it costs

Removal is priced per strand, on the same scale as a refit — because the work is the same work. The longer a capsule has been in, the more carefully it has to come out.

On a 200-strand head that is AED 200 to AED 600 depending on how long they have been in.

If someone else fitted them

We take those out too, and it is one of the more common reasons people come to us for the first time. There is no lecture attached. What we will do is tell you plainly what condition your own hair is in underneath, because that decides what happens next.

Sometimes the answer is that everything is fine and you can be refitted the same day. Sometimes the honest answer is that the hair needs a bond treatment and a few weeks before anything else goes into it. We would rather say the second thing and lose the booking than fit a head that fails.

What happens on the day

• Each capsule is softened and slid off — not pulled.
• The root section is combed through to release the hair that has shed naturally and been held in place by the bond. Expect this to look like a lot of hair. It is hair you had already lost; it simply had nowhere to go.
• Wash, a bond or moisture treatment depending on what we find, and a dry.
• An honest assessment of the hair, and a plan — refit now, refit later, or leave it alone for a while.

The shedding thing, explained

Everyone loses somewhere around fifty to a hundred hairs a day. With extensions in, the shed hairs stay trapped at the bond instead of falling out on your brush. Three months of that comes out all at once at removal, which looks alarming and almost never is. What matters is the condition of the hair still attached — and that is what we will show you.
